Greetings! My name is Matthew Chang, a tea enthusiast. I am a first year student at the University of Ottawa, currently in the process of attaining the Bachelor of Commerce, with an option in Accounting. I was born and raised in Ottawa. I am a simple-minded individual with a passion for tea. Since inception I grew up with tea accompanying my meals every single day. It has been there for me, and never let down. When you’re feeling ill, cold, tired, or just want something to quench your thirst, tea is perfect for any occasion! I like tea, do you like tea? Did you know tea is awesome? Nothing beats a nice warm cup of freshly brewed tea in the morning while you're reading the daily paper. Coffee, you say? Blah, no! Tea is the way to go. Why do I feel like an advertisement? I wasn't even paid to endorse this! Well, that must mean it's really awesome! There is no other possible logical reason to explain this. I hope you enjoy browsing around my wikispace with the theme of TEA. Pinkies up!
Here are the links to pages within my wikispace. As you have probably guessed, the theme will everything about tea! Types of tea, how to make your own tea, the benefits of tea and uses of tea. Woman's enlightenment after sipping her first cup of tea.
Word of advice: Absorption of information works best while sipping on a nice, freshly brewed tea.
Brief history of tea & how it spread around the world
The exact origin of tea is not clear, but it is most likely to have been discovered in China. According to Chinese mythology, scholar Shen Yong Shi was boiling water outside one summer day. Dried leaves from a nearby plant fell and mixed into his boiling pot. He drank the mixture and found it refreshing and thus the first tea was created.
Tea was eventually spread to Korea and Japan during the Sui dynasty (489-618 AD) and Tang dynasty (618 - 907 AD) and other countries near China.
The earliest report of tea being brought to Europe was in 1610, by the Dutch. Drinking tea started becoming a habit for countries especially Great Britain.
Introduction to USA in 1650 by Peter Stuyvesant to the colonists in New Amsterdam (Now known as New York). Now tea is popular all of the world; in fact, after water, tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world! Pinkies up! It's already up? Good, good, excellent, you're catching on!
If you stacked every box of tea sold in the UK each year on top of one another, then you will have done an incredibly stupid thing, and will most likely be arrested.
Tea rhymes with pea!
The Pope likes tea.
Captain Picard likes it too.
So does Harrison Ford.
Don't forget Mr T.
Tea is spelled with the letter T!
Tea is an anagram of 'eat', which is in turn an anagram of 'ate'. Be it passed tense or present tense, you cannot eat tea. Just like you cannot drink 'krind', or steal tales, or punch phunc.
